IB AA · 4A Equations of Straight Lines

Point of Intersection

Set two lines equal and solve.

Jump to section:

Set the two right sides equal.

What to Remember

Same y

At the intersection, the two expressions for y are equal.

Solve for x

Collect the x terms on one side and the constants on the other.

Then y

Substitute that x into either line.

Check

The point should satisfy both equations.
